This book, Restoring Survivors of Satanic Ritual Abuse, should find its place in the libraries of pastors, church leaders, Bible schools, etc. as a manual to guide in understanding and ministering deliverance to the captives as Jesus came to do.
In recent years the subject of satanic ritual abuse (SRA) has incited widespread controversy focused primarily on whether or not such abuse actually occurs. Much like child sexual abuse, SRA was initially dismissed as an isolated or even imaginary phenomenon. Although there is increasing evidence that ritual abuse does take place, clinicians working with individual patients cannot be sure whether they are dealing with fact or fantasy. Dr Colin Ross, an expert in the treatment of dissociative disorders, has encountered more than three hundred patients with memories of alleged satanic ritual abuse. In this book, he provides a well-documented discussion of the psychological, social, and historical aspects of SRA and presents principles and techniques for its clinical treatment.
Although Dr Ross has found no evidence of a widespread Satanic network he is open to the possibility that a certain percentage of his patients’ memories may be entirely or partially historically accurate. In treatment, he recommends that the therapist adopt an attitude hovering between disbelief and credulous entrapment.
Dr Ross has encountered memories of SRA primarily among people who suffer from multiple personality disorders, and the principles of treatment he outlines here focus on such individuals. Treatment is described in terms of both general principles and specific techniques, with case examples. Ross’s recommendation that the same interventions be used regardless of the percentage of memories that are historically accurate bridges the gap between those who adopt a `believer’ stance and those who take a false-memory stance.
This is the most detailed and comprehensive account of SRA from a clinical perspective available to date. As reports of SRA continue to escalate, it will be a valuable resource for all practicing therapists and psychiatrists.
REVIEWS
‘At last, a comprehensive, scholarly and ideologically balanced book has been written for the therapist treating Organized Sadistic Abuse….Satanic Ritual Abuse: Principles of Treatment is by far the finest publication to date in the field of Organized Sadistic Abuse. It is highly readable and certainly destined to become a classic in the literature of trauma and dissociation’.
(David W. Neswald AAT & D Newsletter)
‘This is an inherently provocative, controversial and challenging book to read … Dr. Ross boldly enters an embattled and controversial area that bristles with politics, therapeutic thematics and the question of memory validity. Dr. Ross possesses a very readable lucid writing style’.

People who have survived ritual abuse or mind control experiments have often been silenced, accused of lying, mocked and disbelieved. Clinicians working with survivors often find themselves isolated, facing the same levels of disbelief and denial from other professionals within the mental health field. This report of a conference proceedings presents knowledge and experience from both clinicians and survivors to promote understanding and recovery from organized and ritual abuse, mind control and programming. The book combines clinical presentations, survivors’ voices, and research material to help address the ways in which we can work clinically with mind control and cult programming from the perspective of relational psychotherapy.
REVIEWS:
Ritual Abuse and Mind Control: V.G., but needs more
BY: chason
DATE: December 28, 2011
Ritual Abuse and Mind Control: The Manipulation of Attachment Needs
While offering a general introduction to Ritual Abuse (RA) phenomena, the edited volume is not geared to professionals who need a comprehensive introduction to current research in Ritual Abuse, DID (dissociative identity disorders), DDNOS (dissociative disorder not otherwise specified) or PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).
Having said that, I would not recommend this book to survivors unless they are with their counselors.
Sinason’s historical essay would have gained through better editing – the calendar and time listing might have fared better in an appendix. Then Sinason, a pioneer who has much to say about RA/Mind Control research and treatment, could have discussed professional and public understanding of this occult aspect of human culture in greater depth. Ellen Lachter’s essay on torture-based mind control and psychotherapeutic approaches to treatment is the best: her many references to scientific research is very useful, as is her discussion of the complexity of tailoring therapy to the specific needs and history of each client. Rachel W. Schwartz offers an introduction to attachment theory and how attachment needs are disorganized by trauma and abuse, but it needed to go further to include how action and emotion systems interact with Emotional Parts (EP) and Apparently Normal Personality (ANP, the ‘host’). The ‘Anonymous’ Chapter explains from a survivor’s perspective the effects of abuse, and her development of a belief system that lets her come to terms with how abuse has affected her own way of dealing with the world. Badouk Epstein’s Chapter discusses a male survivor (female cases are more common), and Richardson gives a personal statement of a therapist’s need for intellectual flexibility and a professional resolve to resist the effects of public and professional skepticism about the nature of RA, PTSD, DDNOS and DID.
Ritual Abuse and Mind Control would have profited by the inclusion of an essay which specifically discusses the neurobiology of attachment, the neurobiology of dissociation, how emotional states function with sensorimotor memory, and the several kinds of treatment approaches showing success for the different kinds of therapies based in solid scientific research, especially, from The Netherlands (as did Lachter, i.e, O. Van der Hart, E. Nijenhuis, K. Steele, etc.). Discussing current theories of interaction among biological, psychological and sociocultural systems from a dynamic systems perspective, in order to explain how dynamic interaction generates trauma effects – but also can lead to treatment of PTSD and DID disorders – would present a more comprehensive picture of the current field. That, in turn, might increase public awareness of RA, PTSD, DDNOS and DID, and expand treatment protocols beyond a traditional psychoanalytic perspective which, although unfair to say, can feed into those who would dismiss the reality that there are, in fact, perpetrators who sadistically manipulate attachment needs.
REVIEW
“Although my father wrote about dissociation and multiple personality, it wasn’t until Valerie Sinason asked me to do some filming for a survivor of ritual abuse that the penny really dropped. We had been filming the locations where much of the abuse had occurred and the woman asked me ‘Do you believe me?’ And I realized that I did. This book of papers from a pioneering conference of survivors and therapists stands as a testament to the courage of those willing to come forward to name and identify the horrors of organized abuse practiced on children in our society. Every therapist should read it.” (Sir Richard Bowlby)
“All books written by mental health professionals require intelligence, compassion, and sensitivity from their authors, but few demand courage. The contributors to this impressive and chilling collection of essays deserve our deepest thanks for their bravery in exploring and exposing the most ugly underbelly of human psychology. In sensitive and measured prose, these cutting-edge colleagues have managed to help us understand that extreme abuse, mind control, torture, and other forms of multi-perpetrator assault do exist, and that to deny the personal testimony of survivors, as well the growing body of clinical and forensic evidence, represents a horrific attack. The editors and authors of this collection share their moving psychotherapeutic work in a modest manner, helping all contemporary workers to develop a greater appreciation of the important work that demands our respect and our attention. I recommend this book as necessary reading for all who care about human dignity.” (Professor Brett Kahr)
“This book, and the remarkable conference it documents, has brought together an impressive group of experts, professional and experiential, to discuss one of the most controversial issues in the fields of trauma and mental health. Attachment theory can definitely throw new light on a topic that some sceptics might prefer be left in the dark altogether.” (John Read, Professor of Clinical Psychology)

The lives of untold multitudes of people have been deleteriously affected by satanic ritual abuse—a kind of abuse that intentionally implants demons in its victims to keep them controlled and in bondage to the Devil. Without help these people will spend a lifetime battling these unseen entities. Victory is elusive due to the secrecy that pervades it. This book lifts the cover off that secrecy by disclosing a deeply spiritual interpretation of the battles between the king of the north and the king of the south in Daniel 11. Commonly Scripture is understood historically and outwardly, but there is also an inward and spiritual understanding that lies just beneath the surface. This spiritual view is seen here when we remember that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spirits of wickedness in high places. Just as there are presidents and kings in this world, they also exist in the unseen world of spirits. In Daniel 11, the king of the north represents a powerful demon of shame that rules in the lives of survivors of abuse. This shame that came in via childhood abuse, keeps them in darkness and depression (north). The king of the south represents the demons that go forth from perpetrators to control their SRA victims from a distance. This understanding comes from Jesus’ words in Luke where he says that an unclean spirit goes out of a man and walks through “dry places” (the definition of south in Daniel). This spirit eventually goes and brings in seven other spirits more wicked than himself. The spiritual reality in Satanism today is that a perpetrator who desires more power will send a demon (king of the south) out to go to his SRA victim and bring back some of her/his demons of power (seven spirits more wicked than himself) for his use. Satanists in their rituals call up demons from hell and instill them in their SRA victims. These demons are then accessed for power by the perpetrators in various ways. Satan does not give his most powerful demons directly to a perpetrator. The most powerful ones are instilled in the SRA victim during rituals. In order to access these powerful demons, the perpetrators have to do some evil thing to further ruin the life of their victim who is their living sacrifice. The laws of powerful, successful living in Jesus Christ are revealed in Scripture. The Devil takes these laws and perverts them for his own use. For example regarding power, the Word says: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God…” Romans 12:1). Any Christian who truly walks with God knows that power and victory over the enemy comes when we “die to self” i.e. present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice. Of course, no Satanist is going to die to self for anyone or anything, hence his victim does the daily dying and he gets the powers (demons) through sexual abuse giving him rights to later send forth demons from a distance (king of the south) to use whenever he perceives he needs them. This is why some people in everyday life are sexually abused over and over again by many people. They often have no memory of satanic abuse because they dissociated and because demons block their memories. Every verse in Daniel 11 reveals details of the spiritual forces behind satanic ritual abuse leading up to the coming of the Antichrist. Evil people who want to rule the world through satanic powers must get their power by abusing SRA victims—lots of them. They travel all over the world “on business” and everywhere they go they participate in rituals. They sexually abuse enormous numbers of people. When they want their powers, they send forth their own demons and access power (bring back demons) from all the persons they raped in rituals. This knowledge reveals why pedophilia and human trafficking are so pervasive today. The end of Dan 11 reveals Christians being triumphant over evil world powers.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
In 1970 Patricia and her husband, Dr. F. Stoner Clark, launched out into pastoral ministry in obedience to the Lord’s call on their lives. Patricia’s first ministry activities were primarily in the areas of teaching women, leading worship and most of all being a supportive wife and stay-at-home mom to their two daughters. However, her ministry went to a new level in 1986 when troubled people literally started coming to her door asking her to cast out their demons. Although she had no experience in doing so, she felt compelled to at least try, and the results were amazing. It was not until 1992 that she first heard about satanic ritual abuse. With this new understanding her ministry took on a whole new dimension of deep inner healing. With this new level of ministry came new challenges in spiritual warfare. “New levels, new devils” became a daily experience as she followed the Holy Spirit’s leading in ministering to the deep, inner structures of dissociated parts and demons in the lowest recesses of the minds and bodies of those to whom she ministered. The Holy Spirit opened her spiritual understanding to the unseen realm of evil spirits and occasionally angels who definitely were alongside in their role as ministering spirits. The satanic ritual abuse ministry is deeply infiltrated by Satanists and false teachings abound on all sides. Sadly most churches want nothing to do with this ministry and yet multitudes of deeply wounded people are desperately searching for help. It has to be the called-out ones in Christ filled with the Holy Spirit who can fill this deep ministry void. Patricia, a graduate of the University of Indianapolis, is the author of eight other books: Restoring Survivors of Satanic Ritual Abuse Sanctification in Reverse The Four Living Creatures The Two Witnesses Prepare the Bride Discerning of Spirits in Revelation 9 This Mortal Puts on Immortality Dissociation Revealed and Healed in Scripture Mary, Martha and Lazarus as Spirit, Soul and Redeemed Body

FROM PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Psychotherapist Cori ( The Tao of Contemplation: Re-Sourcing the Inner Life) translates the dark language of trauma in this primer of agony and recovery, with a deep understanding of the tortuous journey many suffer after sexual assault, war, violence and childhood abuse. Skillfully, she avoids the bevy of usual tales of misery found in self-help books on trauma, focusing instead on the resilience of the spirit, regaining control and resuming a renewed life. Very timely and informative, Cori’s guidebook includes a long segment on PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), recognizing the emotional and moral conflicts faced by troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and attempting to reintegrate into society. The author offers solid information on types of trauma disorders and stresses the importance of selecting caring, sensitive health practitioners and therapists as critical to speed the healing quest (she offers sensible specifics on choosing a therapist). Concluding with her own story as an incest survivor (based on recovered memories), the book is a compact, knowing work of atonement, grace, compassion and healing.(Nov.)

In contrast to the author’s previous book, Healing the Unimaginable: Treating Ritual Abuse and Mind Control, which was for therapists, this book is designed for survivors of these abuses. It takes the survivor systematically through understanding the abuses and how his or her symptoms may be consequences of these abuses, and gives practical advice regarding how a survivor can achieve stability and manage the life issues with which he or she may have difficulty. The book also teaches the survivor how to work with his or her complex personality system and with the traumatic memories, to heal the wounds created by the abuse.A unique feature of this book is that it addresses the reader as if he or she is dissociative, and directs some information and exercises towards the internal leaders of the personality system, teaching them how to build a cooperative and healing inner community within which information is shared, each part’s needs are met, and traumatic memories can be worked through successfully.
REVIEW
‘This is a brilliant, practical, and sensitively written roadmap to healing for survivors of ritual abuse and mind control. As Dr Miller so eloquently states, “a dissociative disorder is mental injury rather than mental illness, and, therefore, requires a different treatment”. This book provides understanding, validation, and a path to overcoming fear while walking through the difficult road to freedom that healing entails.’- Carol Rutz, author of A Nation Betrayed: The Chilling True Story of Secret Cold War Experiments Performed on Our Children and Other Innocent People’This incredible book gives voice to the many ritual abuse survivors who, over the years, have suffered from the brutal and severe abuse of cults and mind control programming. Its guidance and information can help survivors recover from this horrible abuse by directly addressing the actual programming techniques of cults, agencies, and secretive organisations, as well as by explaining their effects, through the purposeful creation of dissociative and fragmented mind states causing trauma-based polyfragmented dissociative identity disorder. These states or personalities are created for a variety of roles in these groups, both to fulfil their agendas and to commit violent crimes. I recommend this book to survivors, their helpers, and anyone interested in knowing the truth about ritual abuse and how cult polyfragmented dissociativeidentity disorder is produced.’- Neil Brick, ritual abuse and mind control survivor, child abuse researcher, founder of S.M.A.R.T (Stop Mind Control and Ritual Abuse Today), and coordinator of the annual Ritual Abuse, Secretive Organizations, and Mind Control conference’If you are looking for acceptance and respect, if you want to believed, if you seek a guide who is brilliant and caring, analytic and empathetic – then you have found a sanctuary in Alison Miller’s Becoming Yourself.’- Wendy Hoffman, survivor therapist and contributor to this book’Dr Miller is a strong, competent writer and an empathetic, qualified expert in the area of trauma and dissociation. Decades of treating survivors of abuse have enabled her to display an intimate knowledge of ritual abuse and mind control. She speaks to fulfilling survivors’ thirst for both validation and reliable information. Her inclusion of valuable exercises and survivors’ stories assures survivors that, despite the difficulty or length of time in therapy, they can succeed and live the life that everyone deserves. Whether survivor, therapist, or supporter, this book is invaluable.’- Felicity Lee, founder of the Ivory Garden Dissociative Identity Disorder Support Group
